Budget of 5D4N Trip

This is my last entry for spring trip. Finally...it comes to the end.

Honestly, I really want to do this. Like other backpackers. A budget summary of my trip! But everytime it is going to be messed up. I am not someone who will particularly jot down every single cent during my trip. I just control the budget by how much money I bring with.

 

However this time, I managed to jot down everything I paid for. Hopefully, it can be a guide for my other trip next time (and some out there! Sharing is caring thought...).

 

 

Plus minus...we spent about KRW357,050 includes guesthouse, food and beverages, transportation, entertainment, entrance fee and souvenirs. If convert into RM, it's about RM1,000+. I think the spending is quite ok considering we ride KTX and watched a musical. My typical backpacker's habit. Hihihiii...every single cents you spent is worth hundred dollars, I guess. 

Can't wait for my next trip. Where??? Tungguuu........

 Sedih tau nak balik dah. Kejap je rasanya. Tak sangka dah last day. Undoubtedly, this is the shortest one compared to the previous trips. Namanya trip asal ada...heheee

 

Luckily, it only take few minutes from our friend's house to the Capitol Hotel (Capitol Hotel is the last stop of airport bus No. 6030, which bound for Itaewon). The fare is KRW15,000 and pay to the ahjussi driver inside the bus. Our flight is estimated to depart at 11.00am.

LED Roses Exhibition, Dongdaemun Design Plaza

Direction : DC&HP (Line 2,4,5 Exit 1). Walk 60m straight & turn right. Continue walking 73m.

The unique of this building is the design. With the element of futuristic, it is really attract me to go even during my visit last year. Time is really envy us and unfortunately we have to skip this place. Today, I come back with a mission to see the LED Roses Exhibition held inside (or maybe more accurate to say outside) the building. Yang pastinya, exhibition ni free jek!

 

 

I can't remember which exit the exhibition being held (again...my poor memory!) but I am pretty sure that we almost make half round of this building from here.

Ewha Womens University

Direction : Edae St (Line 2 Exit 2/3). Go straight about 5 minutes

 Our next destination is Ewha Womens University or known as Edae. This is my second visit after the first one last year. What make it different is that we still have enough time to capture a beautiful sight of Edae. It is deniable that this university have a beautiful scenery and designs. I am sure it becomes more during autumn.

Edae is known as first educational institution for women in Korea and said as largest women's university in the world. Honestly, the designs and landscape blend well with combination of old and modern building. Something which I cannot get in my university.

Lunch at Chungmu Kimbap Myeongdong

We go to Dongdaemun after Yeouido. That is after walking randomly at Yeouido. I eager to go to Hangang Park...a popular recreation spot among Korean and even K-pop artist (I guess...as most of their scandal broke when they meet here ㅋㅋㅋㅋ) But I guess I have no luck...next time maybe.

 

As planned (sudden plan to be truth!), we are going to meet a friend at Dongdaemun Station. So, for lunch I suggest we try Chungmu Kimbap since there are many good reviews from the travelers.

Chungmu Kimbap only serves plain kimbap, pickled radish and spicy squid with soup. We choose the small size which cost us KRW7,000. The portion is good enough to feed one person. And the spicy squid is soooo spicy but tasty. That's our simple lunch!

The ahjumma who entertain us ask my Korean friend, how we know about her restaurant. That 친구 explains to her that this is her (our) first time eating here (it happened that my friend doesn't know about this place too) and she tells the ahjumma that we are the one who tell her and look for the restaurant. That ahjumma is surprised. Hehheee...

We have a good conversation even though it is quite a short meeting.

That bouquet of flowers which she refuse to accept at first. Since we insist her to accept, she finally have to. In return, she bought us rings.

Yeouido

Walk towards National Assembly Building about 10 min

The original plan is Hangang Park. But we stuck here (not sure what the name is but it is around Hangang Park near KBS). Memori dah makin tumpul. Tak sure samada aku kluar ikut National Assembly St. or Yeouido St. Jalan punya jalan...sampailah kami kt sini.

 

Tempat ni kiranya macam open court pun ye gak...dekat ngan National Assembly. Lepak situ jap tengok oppadeul main bola keranjang. Lepas breakfast ala kadar ngan banan uyu (breakfast ke tu??), sambung jalan sampailah jumpa banyak-banyak basikal ni.

 

Foreigner kalau nak sewa basikal  kat sini kena tinggal passport. Nanti dia bagi satu slip/resit, bila pulang basikal bagi balik slip/resit tu kat kaunter and dia akan serahkan passport kita balik. Basikal dia charge per hour. Rate per hour tak berapa nak ingat tapi bergantung pada jenis basikal.

Deuksugang Palace

Mood malas makin menjadi-jadi sekarang. Sikit jek lagi...nak abis. Tabahlah duhai jari-jemariku.

Lepas balik dari KFV tadi, singgah jap Deuksugang Palace. Ni kali kedua aku pegi sini tapi kali pertama masuk. Last year masa pegi kali pertama cuma tengok changing Royal guard ceremony kat luar je. This time, masa sampai pun dah nak gelap...and tak ramai orang pun dalam tu. So, boleh lah pose gaya apa skalipun. Buat macam rumah sendiri. Oh ye...palace ni close at 9.00pm and last admission adalah pukul 8.00pm.

 

  Dah last-last ni malas plak nak membebel panjang-panjang. Tengok gambar jekla!

Korean Folk Village

Direction : Suwon St. Exit 5. Go forward about 50m.

Shuttle  bus will be at the nearby bus stop (There's small infomation board for shuttle bus).

Our 3rd day!

 

It's still early in the morning. First shuttle bus is at 10.30am. So we go back to the shopping mall to look for anything we can eat. We found this kimbap. We buy one since we don't breakfast yet.

 

 

Ermmm...맛있어!

Perut tengah lapar semua sedap, kan. Kahkahkahhh...We buy another two sets tapau untuk makan kat KFV nanti.

 

Ramai gak yang naik shuttle bus ni. Queue dia punyalah panjang. Bus sampai...ahjussi tu sumbat semua masuk dalam bus. Takut gak kalau tak dapat naik. Kalau  missed yang ni...nampak gayanya memang kena pelempang sebab aku dah buang masa menunggu (lempang muka sendiri, bukannya ahjussi tu heheee...). Next bus tak sure what time but for sure kena tunggu lagi more than one minute. Penantian tu satu penyiksaan! End up aku kena berdiri all the way to KFV. Boleh tahan gak la ramainya. Weekend kan! And as usual, locals yang meriah. Bertabahlah! Korea domestic tourism is such a successful industry...bear that in mind.

Metasequoia-lined Road (메타세쿼이아길)

The ahjumma we met earlier suggests us to take a walk from Juknokwon and Metasequoia so that on the way there we will be able to pass through a beautiful stream. It is known as Gwanbang Jerim. So, we follow her suggestions. It is easy to find the stream. Unfortunately, there is work in progress in the stream, unable us to enjoy the scenery. We just passed by and keep on walking to targeted destination.

 

Lawaknya we keep on walking and walking without even know whether that is the right way to go. It is  quite far...until we find a signage and it shows a direction to Metasequoia (Look at that...1.7km to Juknokwon and another 0.3km to Metasequoia. That's mean we walk 2km in total. OMG!!!) Tapi view memang awesome la siap lalu belakang rumah orang lagi.

Juknokwon 죽녹원

Date : 30th April 2015

Location : Juknokwon (Bamboo Garden)

Direction : Gwangjusongjeong Station(KTX). Exit from the station, walk to left side of the infomation centre in front of the station. Cross the pedestrian lane and walk to the left side where the bus stop is. Take bus no. 160 and get off at Seobang Market (서방 시장). At the bus stop, wait for another bus no. 311 and get off to Damyang bus terminal. From there, take taxi to the location (about 5 minutes).

Originally, we are going to Korean Folk Village. Last minute, we changed our plan to Damyang to avoid crowd in that place on weekend. Last evening, after came back from theatre we went to Yongsan Station to exchange KTX ticket for today's trip. Today's plan will cover Juknokwon and Metoasequoia.

 

We take the earliest train to Gwangjusongjeong Station and arrive at Juknokwon around 10.30am (Arrive at station around 8.30am). Entrance fee is only KRW3,000. Luckily, there's not so many people during the time we reach there. So, we can walk and enjoy the refreshing scenery leisurely. Malas plak nak tulis banyak2...tengok gambar je la.

Masa sampai tu, de ahjussi tengah renovate entrance juknokwon ni. So tak dapatlah amik gambar landmark Juknokwon ni.

Fanta-stick Musical

It's still raining when we finished our meals. But we have to go now as we still have place to go. By hook or by crook we need to reach this place before 4.30pm. We are going to watch theatre. Yehaaa!!! Yes...theatre. Your eyes won't lie to you. For the first time ever, we are gonna watch theatre...Hangeul theatre. Fanta stick musical. Faham ke kitorang ni?? Buat-buat paham sudah.

 

Tapi time ni lagilah sadis. Dahlah hujan...sesat barat pulak tu. Ntah mana-mana je aku pegi. Mula-mula kitorang pegi teater yang dekat dengan Deuksugang Palace tu...tapi agassi yang kat kaunter tu kata bukan kat situ. Dia suruh kami tempat lain. Aku pun dah tak ingat kat mana...yang aku tau ada dua tiga kali kami pusing tempat sama. Baik-baik perut kenyang, terus rasa lapar balik. Nak naik hangin pun ada. Time tu plak kaki dah start sakit. Kasut yang aku pakai tapak nipis. Lagilah jadi 'ajinomoto' dalam drama aku arini kan. Tanya orang pun...diorang tak tau. Last-last ni nasib baik la ada jumpa agassi ni tolong kitorang. Rupa-rupanya dah tak jauh pun dari tempat kitorang tu.

 

NH Kyunghyang Art Hill located at Sodaemun Station Line 5 Exit 6! Rupanya tempat tu memang dekat giler dengan exit subway tu. Keluar je Exit 6 tu terus pandang kanan. Dah nampak bangunan tu. Tapi pelik betul...apsal aku tak nampak eik. Rasanya dah turun station yang betul dah tadi. Sampai kat situ dah naik lencun. Serabai betol! Masuk dalam tu kena turun eskalator sebab teater tu letaknya kat 2nd floor. Musical tu aku dah booked online masa kat Malaysia lagi. Just show the booking confirmation at counter, nanti dia akan bagi tiket. Harga masa tu KRW42,000 dan dia caj credit card.

Sujebi 수제비 Insadong

Operation hour : 11.30 am - 9.30 pm

Direction : Angguk Station Exit 6. Go straight about 100m and turn left. Pass by Ssamziegil. After passed by pharmacy SudoYakguk, walk into Insadong 10-gil road on the left. Walk about 20m and the signboard to the restaurant can be seen on the right across Korean Traditional House '인사동 수체비'

Actually it is not so hard to find this restaurant if you alert with the signage (or maybe know how to read hangeul). Tapi kitorang tiga empat kali gak pusing-pusing kat lorong tu sebab tak nampak signage kedai.

When see above signage...dah senang. Just follow the direction. Masuk je lorong-lorong tu.

By the time sampai, orang memang tengah ramai (Gambar takde sebab dah lapar and malas nak keluarkan kamera hujan-hujan camni). Lunch hour kan. Tapi nasib baik ada satu meja yang memang cun-cun untuk 2 orang baru je kosong. Tu rezeki namanya :D

Spring di 'Kampung' Lagi!!!

Assalam & 안녕...

On 28th April, I fly back to Korea with hope to enjoy spring. Even though some said that this year spring bloom earlier than expected, as the ticket has been bought few months before...nothing I can do. So...PIC and me fly with hope that there is still saki baki spring left. It's a short trip of 5D4N, with very tight budget hahahaa...Just to satisfy ourselves and get an intro of spring. 

 

As usual, after settle all the immigration process we heading to convenience store to reload T-Money card. This time I am using AREX to downtown Seoul. Like I said earlier, this is a budget trip and therefore we choose everything that cheap and save our pocket. Agak jauh gak la nak pegi AREX ni, but it is cheap! murah so no problem. Time ni kat platform tak ramai orang. Sempatlah snap sana snap sini macam for timer. Padahal ni kali ketiga aku datang Korea tapi tak pernah amik gambar kat Incheon Airport. Sadis!

Officiate new bag. Hikhikk...world has to know! lols

We will stay at Euljiro 3-ga. I'll review the guesthouse in separate entry later on.

 

Taknak  buang masa, lepas check in je terus pergi Bukchon Hanok Village. Pegi lagi!!!! Hahaaa..aku tak puas hati pegi last trip tak dapat cari 8 photo spots tu. Tapi rasa tak sedap hati gak sebab time ni titik-titik hujan pun turun. Renyai sangat pun tak...lebat sangat pun tak. Tapi basah gak la kalau redah je. Direction leh refer kat previous entry di sini

Actually, I'm very excited to start my first entry for my recent trip. Hahaaa...Aigooo! An entry on last autumn trip not even finish yet and now I want to start a new one??? So bad...That's what we've called 'Keterujaan tahap tertinggi'
